| What is Build18?
Build18 is an annual engineering festival held by the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)
department at Carnegie Mellon University. It is a joint venture run by the ECE SAC and IEEE student
organizations. Build18 was founded out of the belief that the ECE curriculum is too structured and
doesn't leave enough room for simply tinkering with electronics and making cool stuff. Build18 is
meant to give ECE students time to work on self-proposed, creative projects and to promote the fun
and playful aspects of engineering. Build18 is currently scheduled for the first week of Spring 2012
semester. All Carnegie Mellon students are welcome to join, participate regardless of time commitment
small or large. This event is meant to be fun, exploratory, and creative. |
